Tristaniopsis laurina ‘Luscious’® PBR – water gum

APPEARANCE : Native water gum tree related to QLD brush box (Lophostemon). Bold dark green leaves, deep orange-red colour when young, dark brown stems, mottled white bark, yellow flowers. Luscious has much bigger leaves, double the width of the species form.
USES: Feature tree, street tree, native alternative to magnolia or photinia, in sensory gardens, wildlife gardens.
PLANTING: Plant in full sun or part shade, in rich moist loam for best results though will grow in clay or sandy soil. Will tolerate light frost and short drought spells but better if in a frost-free spot with regular rain or irrigation.
CARE: Mulch with chunky mulch and water regularly until the plant is established. Prune as required to promote new growth and fertilise using a slow release native fertiliser autumn and spring.
