Brachychiton acerifolius – Illawarra flame tree

DESCRIPTION: Deciduous Australian native tree with a rounded habit and maple-like foliage. Leaves fall during the dry season. Bell shaped flame-red flowers follow in clusters during spring-summer.
USE IN: Large gardens as a feature and shade tree. Flowers are slow to appear, approximately 8-10 years but well worth the wait, each year you’ll be rewarded with an explosion of fiery red red blooms.
LOCATION: Full sun to part shade. Suits most soil types including clay. Tolerates light frost once established.
CARE: Mulch and water well for up to 12 weeks or until the plant is established. Apply a native slow release fertiliser during spring for maximum flowering and lusch new growth. 
HEIGHT & WIDTH: 10-20m H x 5-15m W in garden settings, up to 35 metres in its natural habitat.
YOUR PLANTS: These plants are tube-stock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The average size of your plants will be 15 -25 cm including the pot height of 80mm high and 42 mm wide.
