Great little groundcover with bright flowers at least half the year, and very ornamental leaves all year round. Keeps the weeds down, keeps the soil warm in winter and cool in summer, keeps the topsoil in place, keeps the native birds fed.
Not as soft as a real carpet, but much less pointy and stiff than some other groundcover grevilleas.

Grevillea ‘Carpet Layer’ PBR
APPEARANCE: Ground cover native grevillea with stiff, deeply toothed leaves, rich reddish-brown when young, and large pink toothbrush flowers winter to summer.
USE FOR: Ground cover to retain soil and moisture, suppress weeds, hold banks together, keep roots of larger plants cool in summer or warm in winter.
CLIMATE: Tolerates light frost and salt spray.
PLANTING: Well drained clay loams or sandy soil with a neutral to acid pH. Prefers a full sun to part shade position.
CARE: Water during the first 8-12 weeks until the plant is established. Prune after flowering to keep it neat and dense. Feed with a slow release native fertiliser when buds form – grevilleas can be phosphorus-sensitive so the P ratio of the fertiliser needs to be under 3%.
