APPEARANCE: Ornamental tree with glossy foliage, softly textured bronze underneath especially in new growth. Clusters of fragrant cream coloured sprays appear spring through to summer.
ORIGIN : Rainforests of northern QLD
USE FOR: Plant as a small shade tree or feature tree. Attracts wildlife. Leaves are grown for cut foliage.
CLIMATE: Tolerates moderate frost. Grows from Victoria as far north as Cooktown so very adaptable as to climate.
PLANTING: Plant in well drained soil in full sun to part shade. Roots may become invasive so avoid planting near pipes or foundations.
CARE: Maintenance free once established. Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Prune as desired to promote dense growth habit and flowering. Feed with a slow release native fertiliser when buds form – grevilleas can be phosphorus-sensitive so the P ratio of the fertiliser needs to be under 3%
HEIGHT & WIDTH: 5-10m x 5m W. Can grow to 30m in rainforest settings.
