Callistemon nyallingensis‘Summer Days™’ – Boggy Creek bottlebrush
APPEARANCE: Late spring into summer-flowering native bottlebrush with a strong arching growth habit, soft foliage, and grey-copper new leaf colour. Also called Melaleuca subulata. Native to East Gippsland in VIC.
USE IN: Landscaping, informal hedging, wildlife gardens, coastal gardens, containers, feature planting, mixed beds.
PLANTING : Adaptable to all types of soil including wet soil, clay, and sandy soils. The parent plant grows in creek beds and river banks in the wild. Prefers full sun but will tolerate dappled shade.
CLIMATE: Frost tolerant once established.
CARE: Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Light pruning after flowering will help improve density and encourage more flowers next year. Fertilise with a slow release native fertiliser in spring and autumn.
